§ 8.01. Constitutional officers.

—Those persons who shall hold office as Commonwealth's attorney, clerk of the circuit court, sheriff, treasurer, and commissioner of the revenue immediately prior to the granting of a Charter shall continue to hold office after the granting of the Charter until the expiration of the respective terms for which they were elected or appointed and until their successors have been elected and have qualified. They shall have and exercise all of the rights, powers and privileges conferred upon them by general law and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
